Cantina Sociale Trento Heredia Ziresi Marzemino Trentino Superiore 2020
£20.50
The grapes are grown in the area of Ziresi, which is an area, where Marzemino has been grown for a very long time. This area is situated in the municipality of Volano, in the south of Trento. The name Ziresi means cherry-tree in Trentino dialect and it is due to the fact that on the border of the vineyards there are several cherry-trees.
Once in the winery, the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with frequent pumping –over operations. The juice stays on the skins for a short time, in order to avoid an excessive extraction of tannins and to favour freshness and a good balance. For the same reason, the wine is not aged in wood.
Ruby in colour, the wine is reminiscent of violet on the nose; on the mouth the wine is delicate, inviting, with soft tannins.
It goes very well with mild dishes, particularly with mushrooms.

Trentino – Cantine Sociale
It was in 1956 when 11 Trentino farmers combined forces to create the Cantina Sociale in their city with an objective defending and promoting the area and its products thanks to the union of those who live and work in the area every day.
The original idea was a winner and the increase in the number of members and the quantity of grapes produced and delivered bears witness to this fact.
The vineyards that cover an area of 650 hectares are the “garden” of Trento. The rolling hills that surround the ancient city of Tridentum are the privileged place the grapes of Cantina Sociale Trento grow.
Cantina Sociale Trento makes wines from traditional local grape varieties: Riesling, Muller Thurgau, Lagrein, Teroldego, Gewurztraminer, Marzemino etc.
