Cantine di Marzo Vigna Laure Greco di Tufo 2021
Greco di Tufo DOCG Colle Serrone by Cantine di Marzo winery in Avellino area of Campania is made 100% of Greco frape coming from a small Cru vineyard Laure in the famous area nearby the town ‘Tufo’.
This white wine is straw-yellow, with aromas of flint and fresh sea breeze. It is full and intense on the palate with wild fennel, thyme and Mediterranean wild bush flavours. A wine with great finesse and length that goes well with fish and seafood dishes.
Wine production is limited to just 5000 bottles per annum. These are the first steps in presenting the mosaic of terroirs of the village of Tufo, each with its own features. This wine is the purest expression of the plot where the Laure vineyard is located.
How is the wine made?
Only the first pressing of the grapes from our Laure vineyard is used for this, our Cantina’s “cru” of Greco. This free run juice is the best possible and it is fermented with great care using selected yeasts, in temperature controlled tanks, the wine rests on the lees for 9 months to add structure and complexity. Malolactic conversion is partial depending on the natural acidity of the vintage. Before bottling, the wine is lightly filtered and then it is stored at cellar temperature for a year, until we judge it to be ready for the market.
About the winery
Di Somma family embarked on an ambitious program of development of Cantine di Marzo winery in 2009 with the goal of expressing the four hundred year old tradition of one of Italy’s oldest wineries, the first to have ever produced the Greco di Tufo wine.
The winery is structured over many levels with a drop of more than 20 meters allowing the use of gravity when moving the must and the wine. Wine making process is followed very carefully so that the wine may express all the personality given by the territory.
The main wines currently produced by the winery are Greco di Tufo, Fiano and Taurasi.
