Velenosi Roggio del Filare Rosso Piceno Superiore 2020
£35.25
Rosso del Filare Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC by Velenosi winery in Marche wine region is a blend of 70 Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese. The red wine is brilliant, gleaming ruby red with light garnet hues. Intense, complex nose, with intense scents of dark and ripe fruits such as plum and blackberry, blended in an extraordinary and fascinating bouquet of spices. This Italian red confirms its great character and reveals its essence on the palate. A pulpy mouthfeel, velvety and with just the right touch of tannin, fruits and spices. The warm, lingering, full-bodied and well-orchestrated flavour makes it a distinguished and charismatic wine.
Vinification: After fermentation the wine is drawn off into new barriques from selected French cooperages and left ageing for about 18 months.
Awarded vintage 2014: number 4 of Top 100 Italian red wines 2020, Gambero Rosso 2018 – 3 Glasses, Mundus Vini 2018 – Gold Medal

Mark Flemming –
At sight it is limpid, impenetrable and consistent ruby red. The nose is intense, broad and of excellent quality. Notes of currant, red rose, grass emerge, then it changes and turns to spicy tertiary notes of cinnamon, cloves and then leather, tobacco. On the palate it is dry, warm, soft, very fresh, impressive tannins, present but very delicate, and then savory. It is full-bodied and balanced. It is intense, persistent and fine. Ripe, and extremely harmonious. Highly recommended
