Chiorri Selezione Antonio Chiorri Rosso 2018
Merlot Special Selection by Chiorri winery is one of limited edition and produced only in best vintages wines; and is named in the honour of the winery founder Antonio.
The wine is intense red with liquorice black highlights, on the nose it expresses strong aromas of strawberries, typical for Merlot, but rather jammed than fresh; white pepper, chocolate and light hint of vanilla. The taste is deep, smooth and velvety.
This Italian red is excellent with pasta dishes with game sauces, with roasted meats and mature cheeses.
Limited availability of 2018 vintage with only 4530 bottles produced.
How is the wine made?
The gently destemmed grapes undergo a maceration before fermentation in large wooden barrel. Aging 12 months in large barrel of Slavonian wood
About the winery
Chiorri Winery is a family run vineyard, which with special care about their very own vines, produces DOC Colli Perugini and IGT della Umbria white, red and rose wines.
The family has for many generations personally dedicated themselves to the care after the vines, grape harvesting and transformation of that harvest into wine, by combining tradition, experience and technology. The objective of Chiorri is to continue to offer wines creating positive emotions and infinite moments of joy.
Amongst the varietals cultivated for white wine we find Grechetto, Trebbiano and Malvasia, and those for red wine – Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
