Alvio Pestarino Viò Monferrato Bianco 2022
Viò Piemonte Viognier DOC by Alvio Pestarino winery comes from Viognier grapes vinified in purity. Viognier is a semi-aromatic vine planted in the company in 2017.
Viò appears limpid and straw yellow with golden reflections, while the nose reveals hints of acacia, apricot, exotic fruits, and tertiary aromas.
It is a complex wine with a good structure, with contained acidity but notable olfactory intensity and persistence.
How is the wine made?
The late harvest of Viognier grapes allows enhancing its peculiarities for which this approach has been followed since the first harvest.
Once the grapes arrive in the cellar, a soft pressing takes place. Fermentation begins in thermoconditioned tanks and once the adequate alcohol content has been reached, it continues in acacia and French oak Tonneaux and Barriques.
Aging takes place in the same wood containers and has a minimum duration of 6 months, during which the wine rests on the fine lees held in suspension with weekly bâtonnage.
About the winery
Alvio Pestarino’s winery was founded in 1919 when Pestarino Giovanni bought a Cascina with a small vineyard in Barcanello in the municipality of Capriata d’Orba. Since then, three generations have been involved in the cultivation of the vine. Alvio gave a strong impulse to the development of the business, cultivating a passion that he transmitted to his children, who for years have supported their father in the management of the company.
Today Andrea and Giulia, sons of Alvio, represent the 4th generation of this family. With pride and competence, they are committed to combining tradition and innovation in the management of the company. Agronomic choices are based on the principle of integrated crop management and great attention is paid to each stage of processing to keep the quality of the fruit high. The goal is to produce high quality wines and work to ensure that each bottle represents the maximum expression of that wine. Alvio Pestarino winery is part of the Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti (FIVI).
