The vine-growing tradition of the Valle del Sarca has ancient origins. Here, in a triangle bounded by the Sarca river and Mount Casale, the vineyards of the Salvetta family are situated, facing south at 250 metres above sea level.
Dario Salvetta acquired the lands in the early 1930s and started the tradition of winemaking, which was supported by his family and his sons Renato, Umberto, Franco and Giancarlo until 2003.
Great love to the vineyard made one of the Salvetta brothers, Giancarlo, come back to the vineyard where he created an organic winery deeply rooted in the land’s history. He adopted ancient wine-growing and wine-processing methods and reintroduced them into the production of a very important white wine of Trentino – Nosiola – and to the historical Vino Santo Trentino, a dessert-wine which had been produced by the company since the end of 1700s and exported to all parts of Europe and Australia.
The Salvetta family committed to the recreation of the soil and weather conditions of the historic vineyard through a return to organic agriculture (ICEA certification since 2012).
