Velenosi Solestà 2020
Solesta Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore is one of red gran cru of Velenosi winery. A blend of Montepulciano 70%, Sangiovese 30%, the wine ages 16 months in barriques. Ruby red with garnet reflections, this Italian red carries an intense bouquet with hints of vanilla, red fruits and spicy.
The palate expresses palpitating notes of red currant, tobacco, liquorice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Its persistent, warm and full bodied flavour, makes it, at the same time, a decisive and harmonic wine.
How is the wine made?
After the destemming, the grapes are conveyed into 100 Hl stainless steel fermenting tanks. This facilitates the delicate breakage and movement of the caps during the fermentation in order to ensure the most effective contact between must and skins and fostering the extraction of phenolics. The maceration time can last for over four weeks so as to obtain the best result of the final product. At the end of the fermentation, the wine is put into new barriques where it ages for 12-16 months.
