Syrah di Toscana Guicciardini
£18.45 £14.75
Syrah, a grape with a long tradition in Tuscany, thrives in the “alberese” soils of Castello di Poppiano Conte Ferdinando Guicciardini, the ideal environment to highlight its well known qualities.
Purple intense, bright color, pepper and cloves open up to fruits with complex delicate “boisé” notes. Roundness balanced with a solid but not aggressive body, smooth voluptuous texture, long finish with intriguing fruity notes.
The wine is aged in vats, then for 12 months in French oak barriques and in the bottle for at least 3 months.

Guicciardini
Since 1200 the Guicciardini, one of the most ancient Florentine families, held a prominent position in the social, political and commercial life of Florence.
The hills around the Castello di Poppiano have been for centuries the main site of farming activity by the Guicciardini who, even when involved in the public life of Florence, continued to look after their estates in the country side.
Castello Poppiano is located in Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG area. Most of the vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, the main traditional grape for Chianti, with a complementary contribution of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah. The vineyards on the hills to the right bank of the Virginio creek are devoted to the production of Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG, while those on the left bank mainly produce IGT wines.
While Chianti Colli Fiorentini “Il Cortile” and “Riserva” DOCG, together with Vinsanto, remain the winery’s most traditional wines, innovative works are ongoing and new IGT wines are being produced (one of them is Viognier ‘Campo Segreto’).

Adam –
Young and lively color, typical notes of the syrah, between red fruit and spices such as cinnamon, In the mouth dry with a good body but very elegant. I think it can improve with ageing.
Nathan –
Good syrah, well done, soft varietal aromas and good freshness.
Peter –
Intense and impenetrable. Black and woody fruit. Soft and round, properly rounded off by the barriques. Dark spiciness. Discreet structure lacks just a bit of freshness that would have balanced the wine well.
