Picolit is a dessert wine made of 100% local grape Picolit by Friuli winery Dario Coos. This sweet white is straw
yellow, becoming golden with age. On the nose it is intense and enfolding, rodolent of spring flowers, almonds, peach, acacia blossom and honey. On the palate Picolit is rich, lingering and harmonious, unfolding a succession of distinct sweetish notes.

Suggested to serve at 12° C. Picolit is a dessert and meditation wine, or an elegant, unusual aperitif and fine accompaniment for oysters and venus clams, tangy or blue cheeses and fois gras.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia – Dario Coos

The Coos family has been making wine on the hilly slopes at Ramandolo since the early 19th century. In other words, five generations of Coos devoted their time to the fruits of this land. Today the winery is run by a group of friends with a passion for wine and knowledge of what needs to be done to achieve excellent results.

The winery’s philosophy is to demonstrate what is meant by tradition and traditional techniques in the quest for the original, authentic Ramandolo, combining new production methods and traditional approach.

The winery has a wonderful selection of traditional wines typical for Friuli: the white Verduzzo, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Malvasia; and red Schiopettino, Refosco and Pignolo. And of course Ramandolo in two interpretations – as late harvest and as delicious sweet wine Picolit.

Well what can I say I was really impressed by this wine that I knew by reputation and I had tasted many, too many years ago. The color is classically golden yellow and the consistency immediately appears decisive. The nose is a show of fresh spices reminiscent of sage all on a base of honey and raisins also light hydrocarbons, the broad term makes sense here! Sweet and fresh in the mouth, great structure and balance.
