Made exclusively from the grapes of the autochtonous Sagrantino, Sagrantino Passito by Bocale combines perfectly the aromatic expressiveness and structural elegance. This dessert wine has great character and personality. The quantity produced is very limited and each bottle is numbered.
The grapes are hand-picked in the first week of October and then left to dry on mats for at least two months. The wine does not undergo any kind of stabilization and filtration. Presence of sediments should be considered a guarantee of authenticity. Ageing is in barrique for 24 months.
Only 826 bottles are produced every year and the wine that can age for at least 10-15 years.
On the nose, Sagrantino Passito expresses typical scents of blackberries, currants and Maquis, with notes of spice and vanilla. On the palate, it is well-structured with smooth tannins and good length. Is a meditation wine. it’s excellent if accompanied by ripe cheese. dry sweets or chocolate; served at temperature 16 °-18 ° C.

In 2002, the Valentini family created Bocale, a winery build on the old passion for wine being carried through generations. Bocale in a local dialect that means a two-litre jug of wine or oil, but, above all, the name by which this Montefalco family has always been known.
Bocale is located in Montefalco area in Umbria wine region. Production of Montefalco Rosso and Montefalco Sagrantino is an authentic expression of innovation in the tradition, where the fruits of nature are combined with perfection and simplicity of human gestures.
Bocale makes one white wine – Trebbiano Spoletino, two red wines: Montefalco Rosso and Montefalco Sagrantino, and a dessert Passito from Sagrantino grapes.
