First DOCG of Southern Italy, Taurasi is the flagship wine of the Campania reds. For this wine, Aglianico is capable of creating wines of extraordinary longevity, capable of resisting intact even for decades.
For Taurasi DOCG Cantine di Marzo use grapes that come from the territories of Luogosano and Montemarano, whose soils have a limestone matrix and, on the surface, volcanic ash from the Plinian eruptions of Vesuvius.

Sensorial description:
A profound, full bodied red wine, deep ruby with inviting aromas of ripe wild fruit which develops more spicy characteristics as the wine opens up.
Fine tannins give a velvety, rich texture, plum, prune and black cherry fruit. The influence of the oak is discreet and subtly enhances the natural aromas of the wine.

Food pairings:
Game stew, seasoned cheeses, dishes with wild mushrooms or any dish with strong and intense flavours.

How is the wine made?

The grapes are selected and gently pressed before being fermented using selected yeasts in temperature controlled tanks. The fermentation is at a relatively high temperature and is completed in ten days. The winery wishes to obtain the maximum elegance from Aglianico from the Taurasi area. Ageing in stainless steel for two years on fine lees. Then the wine is aged in French oak tonneaux for an additional two years.
Subsequently, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled. It will remain in the bottle for at least six months before being released to the market.

About the winery

Di Somma family embarked on an ambitious program of development of Cantine di Marzo winery in 2009 with the goal of expressing the four hundred year old tradition of one of Italy’s oldest wineries, the first to have ever produced the Greco di Tufo wine.

The winery is structured over many levels with a drop of more than 20 meters allowing the use of gravity when moving the must and the wine. Wine making process is followed very carefully so that the wine may express all the personality given by the territory.

The main wines currently produced by the winery are Greco di Tufo, Fiano and Taurasi.
